Nebraska-Iowa District Happenings

Calling all Circle K’ers! Do you love to camp? Or more importantly do you love to have fun? If you answered yes to either one of those then attending Summer Sunshine is right up your alley!

Summer Sunshine is a district event held in Mahoney State Park (Nebraska) where Circle K’ers come together for a weekend of fun, relaxation and service. Mahoney State Park offers a variety of activities to partake in including, paddle boating, swimming, driving range, hiking, theatre and of course camping. We will be having a Wiffleball Tournament, going to a Melodrama, having an amazing social and doing some service. This year it takes place the weekend of June 20-22nd. Hope to see you there!!

The Nebraska-Iowa district board consists of officers (elected at district convention by the House of Delegates) and committees (appointed by the board). District committee members help with programs, projects, and other functions that enable the district to have a successful year!

The Club Resource Committee shall serve as a utility for all clubs within the district to advise and assist in furthering club development. They shall cooperate with all the clubs in this district to assist them in the maintenance of an adequate membership, in the proper education and induction of new members, in the utilization of all members, in the development and attainment of minimum membership requirements, and in the promoting of the concept of regular attendance at club meetings. They shall promote the International and District Service Initiative, and advise clubs of new ideas for service projects. They shall research, present, and promote the district Fundraisers. And also advise individual clubs in their fundraising endeavors. They shall also be responsible for other duties deemed necessary by the District Board of Officers.

The Public Relations Committee shall serve as a utility for all clubs within the district to promote Circle K within and outside of the organization. They shall work to improve the relationship between all Kiwanis and Kiwanis-sponsored organizations. They shall be responsible for developing projects and educational programs to expand and strengthen the bonds between these organizations. They shall assist clubs in marketing Circle K to their campus and community. They shall also be responsible for other duties deemed necessary by the District Board of Officers.

If you are interested in putting your leadership skills to use at the district level by being considered for a committee position, please fill out the Committee Interest Form completely. Submissions will go to the Administrator and the Circle K District Governor via email and should be made no later than May 1st, 2008.

We have a club resource committee and their purpose is to be in contact with the host club and relay the information to the District Board and from the District Board to the host club.

If your Club is interested in hosting a District Event, please fill out the Bid Form completely. Submissions will go to the Circle K District Governor, Administrator and the Secretary/Treasurer via email and should be made no later than the Summer Sunshine event in June, 2008.
